Guiding Principles of Education for the "Whole Child"

  • Teacher expectation becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Expectations must be kept high so that we expect the most from each child; the child then expects the most from himself.

  • A highly structured environment allows for flexibility within it to meet individual curricular and emotional needs.

  • Positive reinforcement of a few rules set up each school year provides the framework for positive behavior in and out of the classroom.

  • Teachers understand that developmental levels, individual differences and learning styles provide the basis for each child’s grouping and daily work.

  • Assessing, prescribing lessons, implementing them based on learning style and individual differences then evaluating each session or lesson provides for each subsequent plan as the cycle repeats each day.

  • Students will come to value the 3 R’s as key to success in all other academic endeavors.

  • Developing an appreciation for all Mother Nature affords us and understanding “the best things in life are free”.
